Routing Guide - Print Out and Route!

Your step-by-step cookbook for easy routing

  • Go to the Cirrugator Program site
  • Click on the menu item 'Select' to open the Selector
  • In the drop-down box next to 'Select one passage as reference for analysis:' select the 2nd entry, which is 'Deliv10, Cirrus Delivery, Cirrus'.
  • Click the 'Submit Selection' button. Cirrugator is now preset to route the delivery of Cirrus.
  • Click on the menu item 'GRIB'
  • The 'GRIB file to show' is the most recent one; you typically want this. Click on 'All' to show all subsets. Click on the 'Go' button.
  • Take your time, look at each one of these GRIB plots, and try to understand what is going on.
  • Click on the 'WCharts' menu, then click the 'Go' button to see the up-to-date weathercharts of PSA, 48h surface, and 500mb. Compare with the GRIB files.
  • Click on the 'Router' menu. The defaults are usually ok. Click the 'Go' button. After a few seconds you get the route.
  • Between the two graphs are two buttons. Click the 'Show/Hide Numbers' button. (Click again to make the numbers disappear). That's all what Cirrugator crunches up.
(Course is always TRUE, not Magnetic!)
  • In the little table to the right of the first graph is a summary of the red route fittingly named 'red' but typed in blue. That's because it is a link. Click it to see the Route Inspection page: it shows the position of Cirrus in each of the consecutive GRIB files, and let's you convince yourself that this position does make sense!
  • Last thing to do is to play with the options of the router. E.g. in the 'Settings:' box enter 7 for the 'No of routes' and click the 'Go' button again. Look at the various routes and compare the Race analysis graphs (You may have to click the 'Show/Hide graphs' button)
  • Let me know if this was helpful ;-)
